About Bexley Bed and Breakfast

Philanthropy has been a goal of our bed and breakfast from the start. To a community which has given us so much, we believe that it is an obligation as well as a privilege to pay it forward. The Bexley Bed and Breakfast will annually contribute 5% of our gross receipts (before expenses) to local non-profit organizations, schools, synagogues, churches, and community concerns. Our goal is to provide funding for projects which range from local to global concerns. Are you building a public playground, planting a community garden that will help a local food bank, or planning a program to promote literacy? Let us know. We welcome guest recommendations for our donations.

Monetary donations for 2015 were made to the Bexley Community Foundation, Capital University, etc.
In addition, Bexley Bed and Breakfast Gift Certificates were donated to local silent auctions and fundraisers, such as Bexley Education Foundation (BEF), Bexley Jazz-It-Up, Columbus School for Girls (CSG), etc.

For years, comments would periodically surface that Bexley had no commercial lodging. “Someone should do something about that.”…”Wouldn’t it be nice to have a place in Bexley where people could stay when in town for events?”…”Why not have a hotel or B&B in Bexley?”

In December 2012, weeks after Lesli retired from a 34 year long career at the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Mike and Lesli decided that they should be that “someone” who should do something. Within six months, they had purchased an apartment building suitable for their idea. By January 2014, their plans were approved by the city and renovations were underway. On April 1st, 2015, the Bexley Bed and Breakfast opened its doors to its first guest. And no, the April 1st opening was not an April Fool’s joke!

Mike and Lesli are native residents of Ohio, have lived in the Columbus area since graduating from OSU, and raised their two daughters in Bexley. Mike is a CPA and still works in the healthcare industry. Lesli is now enjoying her “fun job” as the welcoming face of the Bexley Bed and Breakfast. Mike grew up in Sandusky and acquired the hospitality bug while working at Cedar Point Amusement Park.

Their firstborn, Allison, lives and works in downtown Columbus. Always looking for adventure, Amy lives and works in San Francisco. Cole, the family dog, resides on the second and third floor in the proprietors’ rooms of the B&B. You may see his friendly face when he heads out for a walk.
